WHAT’S YOUR STORY?
My name is Zack Owens, and I am the Director of Children’s Ministries at Redeemer Church. I also serve as The Redeemer’s School Chaplain. I grew up in South Louisiana, but Jackson quickly became home. I have been a member of Redeemer Church from the very beginning (2004/2005). After 10 great years working at a local Christian summer camp we were thrilled to move close to the church and join Redeemer’s staff. My wife Kristen and I have two children – our daughter Alex and son Jackson.
WHY ARE YOU AT THE REDEEMER’S SCHOOL?
The Redeemer’s School is a dream come true for our church. Our desire is to be a blessing to our neighborhood and city. Our goal is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, while loving our neighbors through what we SAY and what we DO. I am thrilled to not only serve, but send my own children to a school that has a vision for Christ-centered, spiritual formation and quality education for the children of our community.
WHAT’S YOUR HOPE FOR YOUR STUDENTS?
One of the highlights of this work is serving as the TRS Chaplain. Each Monday morning, I lead our chapel service. As we worship our Savior through singing, and open God’s Word together, I pray that all of our hearts would be shaped to look more like Jesus as we hear the good news of God’s grace. The majority of TRS students are also involved in our Wednesday night children’s ministry – Upside Down – where we connect them with godly Christian mentors in a safe, fun environment. My hope for the students at TRS echoes 3 John 1:4: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
