DESEAN DYSON

Head of School, ddyson@theredeemersschool.org

WHAT’S YOUR STORY?

My name is DeSean Dyson and I am the Head of School here at The Redeemer’s School. I am a lifelong resident of Jackson, MS and consider myself both blessed and called to be in this great city.  My wife Alycia and I have 3 children ( Christian {7}, Avery {4}, and Michael {1}). I have very vivid and diverse memories of both the good and bad our city has to offer. From a troubled history of discrimination, race relations, civic troubles, to a beautiful blending of people and ideas, Jackson is very much an inspiring yet unfinished work.

WHY ARE YOU AT THE REDEEMER’S SCHOOL?

My family and I came to Redeemer Church out of a desire to be in a Christ-centered, bible believing church that not only had a commitment to ministry, but also had a desire to see the love for God transform how we live and relate in every context and space of our lives. My passion for what The Lord has been doing at this church was a key guide to me looking to love and serve in this church and eventually becoming the founding Head of School at The Redeemer’s School.

WHAT’S YOUR HOPE FOR YOUR STUDENTS?

My hope for our students is that they are exposed to the truth and grace of God on a daily basis through the teaching of scripture and the ministering of our staff. I also pray that our faithful ministry through teaching our students the academic disciplines that they will need to navigate civic life, produces leaders and scholars who not only love the Lord and his goodness, but that they will be given tangible skills to be passionate and capable leaders in their communities.
